Spana is an online platform that connects you as a car owner to experienced mechanics and service centers in your area. Our experts, highly rated Spana mechanics have service centers and can come to you to provide a range of car repair, maintenance, and diagnostic services.

Through our website, you can get estimates for a range of car care services, book appointments for needed services, and conveniently manage when and where your service will be performed.  Coupled with this you are also able to receive proactive service reminders so you don’t have to worry or remember when your next service is due – we do that for you!

1.1c How does Spana work?

1. Simply request a quote by providing your location, car, and services needed

In most cases, we will give you a quote based on your car make.  We will confirm this quote with you if any variance occurs due to models we might not cover yet.  If an instant price is not available, we will send you a quote within one business day, often sooner.

2. You can book an appointment by selecting a time that is convenient for you. Spana mechanics and service centers are available 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm. You will be matched with a Spana mechanic or service center who has the necessary expertise to perform the work on your car. Only customers who have completed an appointment with us can write a review — this guarantees that all reviews are from real customers.

3. To confirm the appointment payment (either a deposit or in full) of your quote amount is required prior to a Spana mobile mechanic being dispatched as booked.  This is to ensure that there are no unnecessary surprises for you or us.  We support a range of online payment options for your convenience.

4. Your Spana mobile mechanic will perform the service at the convenience of your home or office. A parking space, driveway, or take it back to the garage. (preferably on a flat surface as well); Spana mobile mechanics cannot perform work on the street.

5. You provide a review of the experience you had with our Spana mechanics and service centers so we get real feedback about your experience which we will use to evaluate our Spana mechanics and service centers and our overall offering to you.  Our aim is to use and offer only the best of the best service to you!

Our Spana mechanics and service centers currently offer a range of repair, maintenance, and diagnostic services, including brakes, belts, hoses, fluids, lights, sensors, check engine lights, no-start inspections, leaks, and much more. 1.3 Do you have a service center or garage where I can bring my car?

We have a wide range of mechanics and service centers where you can bring your car for fixing.


1.4 Which Cities/ areas do you operate in?

We have started in Dar Es Salaam, we are opening new areas every month until whole of Africa is covered. 

If you want us to launch Spana in your area let us know. Tell your friends, family, and colleagues as well as the more demand we get for an area the more likely we are to be in an area near you quicker!!!



1.5 What are Spana operating hours?

Our Spana mechanics and service centers set their own hours, but in most of our service areas, Spana mechanics and service centers are available from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week.  Their availability is one of the criteria we use to evaluate a Spana mechanics and service centers suitability for our platform.


1.6 I forgot my password. How should I do?

Do not worry. Just click on forgot my password and enter the Email you used to create your account on Spana. You're getting a password recovery email. Ah! If you do not receive the email, check your Spam box.


2. Pricing


2.1 How can I estimate the Services I need?

You can request an estimate online by selecting your location, car, and services. We will give you a price upfront of the complete estimate for your car for the services you selected. You will see the breakdown of the cost for each service. There will never be any surprises or hidden costs. If an upfront price is not available, we will send you a quote within 24 hours, usually sooner.



2.2 What is your hourly rate?

We don’t charge for our services based on time. We give you a fair and transparent quote, and you pay the same price whether it takes less or more time for the Spana mechanic or service center to complete the service (within reason of course). We calculate the price based on an estimated time and we apply a labor rate that varies by city and make of car.



2.3 Are there any additional fees for Spana to come to my location?

We may charge a small fee to come and do service or pick up your vehicle from your location. This is mainly to cater for the costs and time used by our mechanics


2.4 Is there a cancellation fee?

You may cancel your booking up to 24 hours before your booking is scheduled. No charges will be charged for cancellations made 48 hours before your scheduled booking.  If you cancel less than 48 hours before your booking you will be charged Tshs 30,000 as a cancellation fee.  Any cancellations made on your scheduled booking date and time will be invoiced to you as per our original quote.



2.5 Should I tip my Spana mechanic?

Yes, you are allowed to tip our Spana mechanics and after that you may please recommend your Spana mechanic to all your friends. You may also want to leave a review about the service you received.


2.6 What if the Spana mechanic finds that my car needs more or less services than I had requested?

You’re always in control. If Spana mechanic finds your car doesn’t need all the services you requested, we’ll remove those unneeded services and lower your bill, right on the spot, and refund you (either as a credit on your Spana account that you can use on your next service or refunded into a bank account of your choice). If your car needs additional repair services, our Spana mechanic will provide you with details of what you need. This will be compiled into a report provided to you with a supporting quote where applicable.  You can decide to accept or decline those additional services.



2.7 Is there a fee for a Spana mechanic to diagnose my car?

Yes. We charge a fee to come to you and diagnose your car. This fee covers the inspection and diagnostic time and cost of driving to you. The fee is based on the type of diagnostic inspection you require.  All our diagnostic services are listed in plain language to make it easier for you to select the diagnostic inspection that matches your car issue.



2.8 What does the diagnostic services cover?

If your car has a problem, you can book a Spana mechanic to perform a diagnostic. A Spana mechanic will come to your location and inspect your car. Our Spana mechanics go through a step-by-step process to rule out or confirm any part(s) failures. Diagnosing a problem is a process. Sometimes the only way to prove that a part is defective is to replace it and recheck the car. Your Spana mechanic will diagnose the car and then provide preliminary recommendations and needed repairs, based on their visual inspection and any tests performed. All this information will be compiled into an inspection report that will be provided to you.  The inspection report may include photos, test results, audio notes, recommended services, and repair estimates (if applicable).


3. Scheduling


3.1 I don't know what is wrong with my car. What can I do?

You can book an appointment for Spana mobile mechanic to come out to you and inspect your car. They will provide their inspection report and recommend services or repairs that your car needs.


3.2 How can I make a booking with Spana?

You can book an appointment online by selecting your location, car, and services. In most cases, we will give you a quote upfront. You will see the breakdown of the cost for each service. You will also see the list of available times. To book an appointment, simply select a time that works for you and make payment to confirm your booking.  We support a range of online payment options.


3.3 How can Spana send someone to help me?

We have Spana mobile mechanics available 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm. Depending on the availability of parts, we are usually able to provide services the next day, though our Spana mobile mechanics tend to get booked rather quickly. 3.4 How can I reschedule a booking?

You can reschedule your appointment by contacting us no later than 24 hours before your appointment is scheduled Email us at service@spana.app or call us at +255 652000072.


3.5 What if the Spana mobile mechanic is late?

Please remember to allow up to 60 minutes for your Spana mobile mechanic to arrive. Sometimes your Spana mobile mechanic can get caught in traffic or a previous job takes longer than expected. We do apologize if this is the case. If you have not heard from your Spana mobile mechanic by your appointment time, please give us a call at +255 652000072 and we will work to resolve the issue. If you need to reschedule, we will take care of this for you as well at no additional cost.


4. Parts



4.1 How do I know the parts are of good quality?

The parts team at Spana have gone through a rigorous filtering process to select the brands that are best suited for your car. Our parts catalog has a list of approved brands for each type of car and each type of part. We take pride in having a network of Spana mechanics that use high-quality parts. Your Spana mechanic will let you know if the parts used are brand new, used, original or Chinese so that you pay according to the quality. 


4.2 Do you ever use Remanufactured or used parts?

We don’t engage in the business of supplying or installing used parts. Only in very rare cases do the Spana mechanics in our network ever use used or remanufactured parts — usually in older cars where the parts manufacturers have discontinued the production of new parts. Your Spana mechanic will let you know if the parts used are brand new, used, original or of any quality so that you pay according to the quality. 


4.3 Where are the parts coming from?

We buy parts from several vendors — from local vendors to wholesale suppliers across the country, allowing you to receive high-quality parts at reasonable prices. Whenever possible, we prefer OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or OE-equivalent parts, and we think they’re better for your car. We also offer high-quality aftermarket parts, often from the same manufacturer as the original parts.

We actively work on providing you the best possible parts at competitive prices. And some of our mechanics on our platform are dealing with parts re-selling which makes it easier to acquire needed parts. 


4.5 Can I provide my own parts?

Yes, you are welcome to buy your own parts and book one of our Spana mechanics to install them. When providing your details please indicate that you will be providing your own parts and your final quote/invoice will be reduced by the value of the parts. Note, when you provide your own parts, any warranty offered by Spana is voided.



4.6 The parts provided for my booking are incorrect. What happens now?

We always try our best to ensure the parts provided for your car are both competitively priced and correct.

Where the parts sourced are incorrect we will work with our Spana mechanic and service centers to identify the nearest part supplier from our network to replace the incorrect part.  We will always try to sort this out within the allocated time for your service.

In instances where, due to part availability, this is not possible we will communicate this with you and arrange a time that is both convenient for you and where the correct parts are available.

If the correct part is cheaper or more expensive than the one you were originally quoted on you will either be refunded or invoiced for the difference.



5. Billing


5.1 How do I pay for the Service?

We offer a range of online payment methods.  You can select your preferred method of payment during the checkout process or via your account. You can pay for completed Jobs through the Spana Platform using mobile money such as Mpesa, TigoPesa, AirtelMoney or others, or paying using bank Cards VISA or Mastercard or pay directly to the service provider (garages, service centers, mechanics, car washes, drivers and others)


5.3 How can I resolve any issues I have with billing?

Please send an email to support@spana.app or call +255 (0)652 000 072. Please provide your account information (name, surname, phone number, email, and order ID) when you contact us.


5.5 Are payments made online secure?

Yes. When you enter your card details upon booking please be assured that your card details are sent over SSL to our payment gateway provider, who meet bank-level PCI-DSS security standards.


5.6 Do I have to pay online?

You can pay for completed Jobs through the Spana Platform using mobile money such as Mpesa, TigoPesa, AirtelMoney or others, or paying using bank Cards VISA or Mastercard or pay directly to the service provider (garages, service centers, mechanics, car washes, drivers and others)


5.7 Do I have to pay the full amount quoted?

This is entirely up to you – you can select to pay the full amount or pay a deposit when completing the booking process. 

We do allow you to make an initial deposit to secure your booking with the balance of the monies due on successful completion of the requested services.


5.8 What if my car breaks down unexpectedly and I cannot afford the repair bill immediately?

Unscheduled and unbudgeted repairs are a frequent occurrence in the ownership experience of most car users. We are looking to be poised to provide coverage for our customers in such time of needs. We will reduce your vehicle downtime by providing repair finance through our Finance partners. This facility (repair financing) will be available to individuals, fleet owners and staff cooperatives. Once ready, we will announce it using our proper channels on how to acquire it


6. Our Mechanics


6.1 How do Spana work with Mechanics?

Spana is a network of expert mechanics and service centers. Independent mechanics and service centers apply to join our network. Every mechanic and service center go through an extensive screening process that includes background, criminal, and reference checks. Once approved, mechanics and service centers are booked for jobs through Spana.


6.2 How are Spana mobile mechanics screened?

Spana mobile mechanics are screened through a two-step process once an application request is made:

Step 1: We perform a background check, skills check, and a one-on-one interview with the potential mechanic or service center.

Step 2: If the mechanic or service center passes the screening process, we onboard them onto the platform and allow them to accept bookings from customers. Our Spana mechanics and service centers are rated by you, the customer, after every booking to ensure the highest service standards are upheld.  Should a Spana mechanic or service centers not uphold the required standards of quality workmanship and awesome customer service they will be removed from the platform.



6.3 How do I get a mobile mechanic who specializes in my car (Honda, Ford, BMW etc.)?

When confirming your appointment, we will ensure you are matched with a Spana mobile mechanic or service center who is qualified to work on your car. Many of our Spana mechanics or service centers have dealer or factory training with certain brands. Some of them have years of experience working on certain types of cars (e.g. German cars, domestic cars, etc). You can see their particular strengths and expertise on their profiles, as well as reviews from previous customers.
